John Krasinski on importance of casting a deaf personJohn Krasinski has revealed that hiring a deaf actress for his movie ‘A Quiet Place’ was non-negotiable.
Written and directed by John Krasinski, A Quiet Place (2018) is the movie about a family that lives an isolated existence in utter silence, for fear of an unknown threat that follows and attacks at any sound.
Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds star in this horror thriller.
Simmonds is a very young, deaf actress that is trying her best to make her way in the tricky movie business.
Simmonds' big screen debut came with Wonderstruck (2017), a family drama by Todd Haynes, about a young boy in the Midwest. The story is simultaneously told with a tale about a young girl (Millicent Simmonds) in New York from fifty years ago, as they both seek the same mysterious connection.
Krasinski wanted Millicent Simmonds in his new movie, as he was certain that A Quiet Place (2018) would not have been the same without her.
