2018 Venice Film Festival jury president is - Guillermo del Toro

Oscar nominated director Guillermo deal Toro has recently been named as the jury president at this year's Venice Film Festival, nearly a year after his movie 'The Shape of Water' took the festival's top prize.

Founded in 1932, Venice Film Festival is one of the biggest and most important film festivals in the world.

With about 100 movies competing for numerous awards every year, the jury of Venice Film Festival has a difficult job of making a final decision - which movie deservers which award.

The 75th Venice Film Festival now has a new Head of the Jury - famous Mexican director Guillermo del Toro.

Del Toro dominates at almost every single festival and awards show on the planet, with his fresh movie The Shape of Water (2017).

This movie is currently nominated for 13 Academy Awards, and it has won two Golden Globes awards - Best Director (del Toro) and Best Original Score (Alexandre Desplat).

With many more nominations and wins, The Shape of Water (2017) cemented Guillermo del Toro as one of the most important movie directors of today.
