Lily James is building up her career on historical movies

Lily James was instantly emotional when she first read the script for her new historical drama. The British actress is gearing up to promote the film adaptation of 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society', which is based on a 2008 book. While Lily has appeared in plenty of historical projects, including 'Downton Abbey', 'War & Peace' and 'Darkest Hour', she simply couldn't resist taking on another one.

The 27-year-old English actress has an impressive resume, with more than 20 television and movie titles in it.

The majority of those productions are some sort of a historical movies, or movies based on a real-life events.

She was big as one of the main characters from Leo Tolstoy's War & Peace adaptation in a TV mini-series from 2016. In the same year, she starred in The Exception (2016), a World War II based movie, about a German soldier who tries to determine if there is a spy in their ranks.

Even one of her early efforts is based on a somewhat historical event, as the UK was blown away with sexy, mysterious story about a Call Girl's diaries, that was made into a TV series - Secret Diary of a Call Girl (2007-2011).

Also, her latest project is a war-drama - Darkest Hour (2017).

James will appear in another historical movie that will premiere on April 20, 2018 - The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018).

The movie was directed by Mike Newell, and it was scripted by Kevin Hood and Thomas Bezucha. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018) tells the story of a writer who forms an unexpected bond with the residents of Guernsey Island in the aftermath of World War II, when she decides to write a book about their experiences during the war.
